St. Jude's Vision – 2011

St. Jude's long-range vision is to become a church which embodies the three I's (in red).

What does that mean to us today? (Examples follow in bullets below.)

Initiate:

Expand St Jude's relevance in Silicon Valley in the 21st century

• Engage with the community around us
• Creatively invent new ways to invite people in and to join people where they are
• Use new technologies to enhance communication

Include:

Become an extended family where all age groups are valued, embraced, served and nurtured

• Offer a range of spiritual and social activities that attract and engage all ages, but especially children, youth, and young adults
• Develop an intentional approach to integrating newcomers into the St Jude's community
• Openly communicate the needs of our ministries and encourage new participation and new ideas

Incorporate:

Empower all parishioners to discern and share their gifts, to live the mission of the church in our local community and in the wider world

• Create a dynamic spiritual formation program for youth and adults
• Embrace the gifts that each individual brings
• Explore the characteristics and practices of emerging churches for insight into new ways of mission
