Join us after the 10:30 Worship Service on Sundays for coffee, apple juice and fellowship. There is frequently a bite to eat provided by a parishioner.
It’s time again to kick off the small dinner groups, which help parishioners get to know each other in a relaxed manner. With our services split by the Forum time, the 8:00 and 10:30 parishioners do not cross paths very often, let alone have an opportunity to become acquainted. This is also a great venue to welcome new parishioners into parish life. For those of you who haven’t participated before, these dinner groups are formed from people who indicate a willingness to participate. Names are drawn out of a hat to form the groups (about 8 people), which meet in some fashion for a year. Each group decides how they want to organize themselves and how often they want to meet. We start with groups of about 8 people, so that there is room to add others on an ongoing basis or as a one-time guest, whichever is appropriate. The past couple of years, at least one group was organized around those who wanted to include children in their group. Singles can sign up either as a single or with a friend. Usually the pattern has been to meet in each other’s homes, or the Fireside Room (when space is an issue), at least once for each grouping (couple, single, single group). Several times, groups decided to go to a restaurant or a play or musical event. It is up to the dinner group to find their own style.
The kick-off potluck will be on Saturday, October 6th in the Parish Hall to socialize and draw names. Plates and eating utensils will be provided, as well as coffee/tea. Please provide something to share for dinner (main dish, side dish, salad, or dessert with serving utensils) and your own beverage. Socializing begins at 6 pm. Dinner is at 6:30 pm followed by Group drawings.
