Greetings from The
Rector
St. Jude The Apostle
Episcopal Church
Cupertino, California
|
Dear Friend,
Welcome to the web page of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Cupertino. St. Jude's
is a medium-sized church within the Episcopal Tradition. This means that our
liturgy maintains the sacramental mystery of the early Church while our preaching
arises out of the biblical witness. Sermons are written to address the concerns
of people in Santa Clara County as well as assist people in their journey towards
wholeness.
If you are searching for God and desire a community of faith where you can
openly discuss your doubts and joys, please join us on Sunday mornings at 8:00
or 10:30 am. Let the clergy know if you would like to meet with one of them.
Our vision is articulated below.
Vision: “St. Jude’s is a spiritual oasis where lives are transformed.”
- Our religious path is grounded in the great commandment “To love God and
love neighbor.” We live out this commandment by seeking and serving Christ in
all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves. We promise to strive for justice
and peace among all people and to respect the dignity of every human being.
- We seek personal transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit, which
is made evident by its fruit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
- Living in a pluralistic, multi-cultural community, we are committed to
a posture of inclusivity: Whoever you are, wherever you are on your journey
of faith, you are welcome here.
- In thanksgiving for the beauty and setting of this spiritual oasis, we
share our campus with pilgrims who seek wholeness and community organizations
who need a home for their ministries.
- We are part of the larger Episcopal Church, that branch of Christianity
where reason (along with Scripture and Tradition) plays an important role in
our knowledge of God and God’s will for us.
- We are a church who is committed to the principles of the Charter for Compassion, believing that compassion is at the core of Jesus’ teaching. (See link: charterforcompassion.org)
Peace be with you,
