Newcomers

St. Jude's believes in providing not just a special welcome for Visitors, but ongoing support and incorporation for Newcomers. Become part of this ministry by helping to share our love for St. Jude's and for each other!

You can help in one of three ways:

  • As a Greeter you greet Visitors and Newcomers before the service, provide them with a name tag, help them sign the guest book, and ensure they are oriented.
  • As a Host you meet Visitors after church, give them a Visitor bag, and hosts them at coffee hour, helping them to meet others. Your responsibility is to stay with them until they are ready to leave.
  • As a member of the Newcomers Committee which encourages the parish to welcome visitors and incorporate newcomers. We are working on a wide front, thinking about newcomers and signage, greeting, liturgy, education, communication, follow-up, mentoring, inclusion in ministries and anything else that makes St. Jude's a special place for the inexperienced or experienced visitor, "church shopper" or longtime Episcopalian. The committee is especially looking for newer members of St. Jude's who can relate their own experiences and provide suggestions.
