Children's Choir

Special Choir Event:  On May 20, the adult choir, MOTS, and a seperate drumming ensemble will be performing a huge piece for Pastor Sherridan's last Sunday at St. Jude's, as well as the St. Jude's Open House.  The piece calls for a children's choir and so I am sending out this invitation to children and youth of all ages to participate.  We especially need older, more experienced singers, because the piece is not simple. We will only rehearse three Sundays from 9:10 to 9:55:  April 22, May 6, and May 13, plus one evening rehearsal with the adult choir and all musicians on Thursday, May 17.  This is a one-time occasion and a very special one at that.  I hope your children will consider taking part in this special celebration.  Contact Kathy Disney if you have any questions.

Children - If:

...you like to sing or want to learn to sing

...you would like to have some fun with a great group of kids while learning to love and worship God

Then - you should contact Kathy Disney about joining the Children of the Spirit - 'COTS!

Here is the 2010 annual report from Kathy Disney*, the Director of our Children's choir:

The "Children of the Spirit" choir ('Cots) continues to be an active ministry at St. Jude's, singing approximately twice per quarter for the church service. In the Fall of 2010, 16 dedicated singers began the lengthy preparation of the 45 minute musical “No Wonder!”, a Christmas musical which was presented as the pageant for the children's service on Christmas eve.

Directed by Sara Morris and assisted by Katie Bertolucci, the cast acted, sang, and danced their way into our hearts as they sent an inspirational message to the St. Jude's community. They were supported by our talented and committed teen band: Trevor and Willa Snow, and Caleb and Reece Disney.

The entire process from start to finish was a blessing for me as I saw members of our church family share much of their time and talent with the children who in turn shared their time and talent with our congregation. I'm sure the message that reached our audience also spoke to the participants, and it's my hope that we will all be inspired to reach out and bless others. The focus for 2011 will be to seek ways in which to share our blessings beyond the walls of St. Jude's by bringing the gospel message in song to our neighbors in the Cupertino area. The Church has left the building!

O God, whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven: Be ever present with your servants who seek through art and music to perfect the praises offered by your people on earth; and grant to them even now glimpses of your beauty, and make them worthy at length to behold it unveiled for evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
