Godly Play for Grades Pre-K to 2

The goal of Godly Play is to enable children to use sacred story, parable, liturgical action, and silence to become more aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives and in the community of children gathered for worship. This is done with creative biblical storytelling followed by a time of reflection with “wondering” questions/discussion and then a time of active individual creative response.

Grades 3-8

Our lectionary-based curriculum for grades 3-8 uses this resource: Lesson Plans by Church Season.   The Lectio Divina method is used for studying the scripture. The text for the Kid's Quest Bible can be found online here.  Select the New International Reader's Version (NIrV) for  Grades 3-5.   Each Sunday bulletin includes the scripture reading(s) used for the day to aid parents in discussing Sunday School with their children later.  Grades 3-5 meet separately from middle school age students, who also may participate in Youth Group.

All classes create a covenant which begins with RESPECT:

Remember the Golden Rule
-- Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.
Everyone is a beloved child of God and has gifts to share.
Sunday School adults volunteer their time because they care.
Please follow instructions.
Expectation for all to have a positive Godly experience.
Cultivate respect with clear, consistent consequences.
Treat self and others with love and respect.
